I hope so, too. It wasn’t my money, so it doesn’t directly affect me. The housemate I work with does something similar with pencils (he teaches math), and he suggested I hold it until Advent fundraising starts. I was going to do that or donate it to the church affiliated with the school, but now the donation will have to be smaller, I guess.

Thanks for the advice, Lyzii. It kind of helps to know that you’re still struggling with some of the same things I’m facing. It gives me hope that, even if I can’t finish the year as my idea of a “good teacher,” doing what I can might be enough. I need hope.

I’ve done that following directions activity in a class I took before. I didn’t follow directions, and I felt silly, but I got the point. My students might start a riot if I tried that with them, though. :/
