A Brief History

Burned-Bridges.net was purchased on August 15, 2001. I registered the name at Godaddy.com and the web space at Hosturbo.com. Hostturbo proved to be a horrible web host, so I switched to Webmanixhosting, which later turned into Dragon Hosting. Currently, Burned-Bridges.net is hosted with Surpass Hosting, the best web host I have had thus far.

The Name

While deciding what name to register, it came down to a tie between this name and Nothing-Shocking.net. I liked both of them so much and could not decide which to register. When I asked some friends what they thought, more of them seemed to like Burned-Bridges.net.

Now, you can giggle all you want at me for this… but the name actually comes from a lyric in the Good Charlotte song "Screamer", which I was obsessed with at the time of registering this domain: "So many things I'll never learn, you can't cross bridges that you've burned." The grammar is incorrect, I know. Technically, it should be burnt-bridges.net, but 8 years later nobody seems to care that much…

Why?

After one year of web designing, being hosted by other people, and having knowledge of practically every free server imaginable at the time, I wanted to expand my skills. I wanted to see what it was like to maintain my own domain and host other sites. Looking back at where I was with my designing before I bought this domain, I see a great improvement.
